Cancelling or Refunding your Delta Flight

Delta Airlines change fees for domestic flights are $200 and $250 for international flights.  A maximum of two changes are allowed per passenger per ticket. Also if you want to cancel your trip altogether Delta Airlines charges $200 for domestic and $250 for international flights. 

Other Fees

1. Any travel that originates from Mexico cannot be cancelled or refunded.
2. For flight tickets originating from Korea the passengers will be refunded in the original form of payment minus the cancellation charge. Delta Airlines charges $150 as cancellation fees for trip originating from Korea.
3.  For travel originating from Europe the Delta Airlines charges 150 euros as cancellation fees,
4. For travel originating from United Kingdom the Delta Airlines charges 150 pounds as cancellation fees.
5. For travel originating from Middle East, India and Africa the Delta Airlines charges $180 as cancellation fees

Non Refundable Flight Ticket 

Flight credit would be applicable on the non refundable fare only and are valid till one year from the date of booking. A cancellation fee will be deducted from the original cost of the flight. The Delta Flight cancelation fee starts from $99 to $199 according to the route and itinerary selected.

Refundable Flight Ticket

As per the cancellation policy passengers can only for a refund on the refundable fare rule provided passengers cancel their flight reservation 3 hours prior to their scheduled departure.

Award Ticket

Delta Airlines award ticket originating in the US can be cancelled and changed any time before your flight departure.  For awards Tickets originating outside the US needs to be cancelled at least 72 hours before flight departure. Delta Airlines charges $150 as cancellation fee while this fee will be waived off if you are a Diamond or Platinum member. After making payment your miles will be reverted back to your travel account in the original form of payment.

Delta Refund Policy

As per Delta Airlines cancellation policy passengers are restricted to claim the full refund on the flight reservation beyond 24 hours of the booking. In case of Delta refundable tickets passengers would get a refund after assessing the cancelled flight fee. The refund would be applicable on the unused portion of the ticket only.

If you have booked the Basic economy fees then they cannot be changed until and unless they are under Basic economy waiver.

Delta Airlines also offers a refund in the event of death of the passenger, travel companion or anyone from the immediate family. Passengers can claim for a full refund provided they can present the airlines with a valid death certificate.

Eligible Tickets

Customers who have booked their flight ticket on Delta Airlines official site or the Fly Delta App, passengers have up to 24 hours to cancel their flight ticket and receive a full refund with zero charges.

Non refundable flight ticket are not eligible for a refund, whereas refundable flight fares are eligible for full refund after the request for refund form is submitted. The value of the flight ticket will be credited to the passengers travel account within seven to ten business days. Basic economy fare are not eligible for cancellation and refunds.

Award Tickets

Delta Airlines does not allow for tickets purchased with miles to be re-deposited back to the passengers Sky mile account even if it is fully refundable. Passengers can receive a refund only if the ticket has been purchased under Delta’s 24 hour risk free cancellation policy. The unused portion of the cancelled flight ticket will be credited as eVoucher / eCertificate that can be redeemed in future.

Delta Airlines offers multiple methods to complete your request for refund. The most common method to request a refund is online method by visiting Delta Airlines official site. Within 24 hours

Delta Airlines passengers can claim for a full refund for free only if cancelled within 24 hours  of booking. The Delta Airlines cancellation 24 hour policy would only be applicable on refundable flight ticket and non refundable fares.

After 24 hours

After the 24 hour risk free cancellation you can cancel your fares but for an extra cost. Cancellation fees may vary anywhere from $0 to $500 minus remaining value depending on the fare selected and route travelled.
