If your flight is cancelled by 5+ hours then you can opt for:

1. A full refund by cancelling your flight ticket (according to EC261/ 2004 Regulation)
2. Extend the validity of your flight ticket and travel at a future date according to your convenience
3. Ask the Airlines to accommodate you another seat for free on the next flight
4. If your flight gets delayed by more hours you can request for free meals and refreshments
5. You can change your destination (once) within one month but no later than 2 weeks after cancelling your delayed flight date.
6. If your flight was originated in the European Union and is delayed by more than 3+ hours then you will be compensated by the airlines according to EC261/2004 Regulation.
7. If you are unable to reach the airport on time or you couldn’t travel due to illness or death of an immediate family member you can claim for a full refund by presenting with a valid health certificate, death certificate of the deceased and your relationship with the deceased.
8. You can extend your ticket up to 45 days in case of death of a family member.
9. You can request for a full or partial refund from the airlines if you are flying within the US within 24 hours of purchasing your flight ticket or at least seven days before your flight departure.
10. If you have purchased your flight ticket through a travel agent then you can approach them directly for refund.

ITA Airways 24 hours Cancellation Policy

If you have purchase a flight ticket at least one week prior to your flight departure (168 hours) you have the freedom to cancel it within 24 hours to enjoy a penalty free refund in the original form of payment. The 24 hour risk free policy is applicable on all fare types.

ITA Airways Cancellation Policy for illness

If the passenger flying with ITA Airways is unable to travel on time or falls sick after starting a journey have the option to extend their travel or date or receive a 100% refund without any extra charges. Passengers can extend their travel date (based on the medical certificate) till the passengers if fit to travel again.  However the travel date must be no longer than three months.

ITA Airways Cancellation Policy For Immediate Death of Family Members

If the passenger travelling dies or if any of the immediate family members of the passengers passes away then, the following conditions will be applied:

1. Obtain a full refund without any charges
2. Extend the travel date by 45 days

How To Cancel an ITA Airways Flight?

You can cancel your ITA Airways flight in different flights-by visiting the airlines official site, by calling the customer care, by sending an email , through a travel agent or through an ITA Airways ticket.

How to Place an ITA Airways Request Refund?

3. For unused portion of the flight ticket only taxes will be refundable
4. For partially used portion of the flight ticket refund amount will be determined after deducting the taxes and service charges
5. Flight tickets issues by ITA Airways are eligible for refund at least 30 days after the expiration date

Compensation For Cancelled Flights

In case your flight is delayed by more than 3 hours then you are entitled to the following compensation:

1. Receiving a 100 % compensation for the cancelled flight tickets
2. Departing on the next flight available
3. Extending the travel date and flying at your convenience but within 3 months
4. You can get free meals and refreshments if the delay is longer than three hours
5. Asking the airlines to accommodate you with free hotel stays if the flight requires you to spend a night
6. Free transportation for travel from your hotel to the airport

Exceptions For ITA Airways Compensations

The following exceptions will be applicable:

1. If the airlines informed you in advance 14 days before your flight departure
2. If the flight was cancelled for reasons beyond the airlines control -bad weather conditions, airport closure, travel ban by government, airport closure, etc.
3. You were informed about 14 to 7 days about your flight departure and you were offered another flight.
4. You were informed about 7 days about your flight departure and you were offered another flight that would depart in one hour after your original flight.

To request for compensation with ITA Airway you can compose a message and send it tocomplaints@ita-airways.com. Once your request is confirmed and acknowledged an ITA representative will contact you about your entitlement and you will be reimbursed within seven to ten business days.
