JetBlue Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Policy

JetBlue ensures the safety and security of an unaccompanied minor travelling with JetBlue Airlines. JetBlue Airlines offer special service if your child is travelling alone and is between five to fifteen years of age. Your child will be escorted starting from the pick-up point at the airport till the child reached their dedicated destination. However there are some points to note down and below are listed the policies:

1. Children aged between five to fourteen can travel alone as an Unaccompanied Minor with JetBlue Airlines services.
2. They can travel on non stop flights and cannot transfer to other airlines.
3. Children below the age group of five years are not eligible or travel for the unaccompanied minor service.
4. For children aged between five to seven years the service is available only on non stop flights.
5. For children aged between eight to fourteen years they can also travel on non stop flights and they cannot travel between 9pm and 5 pm.
6. JetBlue Airlines Unaccompanied Minor also cannot travel on connecting flights or codeshare flights.  They are allowed on non stop flights.
7. Special documentation is required for international travel such as notarized letter of permission.
8. If a minor is aged between two years to 13 years is travelling with a passenger aged between 14 years or older certain rules is applicable.
9. Valid IDs are required for minors travelling alone with JetBlue Flights.
10. Parents/ Guardians dropping the child at the airport are advised to remain at the airport until the child has boarded on the flight.

JetBlue Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Age

1. Children aged between five to fourteen can travel alone as an Unaccompanied Minor with JetBlue Airlines.
2. Children between the age of five years and below and upto15 years need to be accompanied by a guardian till the check in point at the airport. From the check in point the child will be escorted by a JetBlue representative.
3. Unaccompanied minor service is optional if the child is between the age of fifteen years to 17 years and above.

If the minor is travelling internationally then unaccompanied minor travel may be different, some may require special documentation while some may prohibit travel. 1. Navigate the JetBlue Airlines official site
2. Click on “Book Flight” from the home screen
3. Choose whether one way or round trip
4. Select Zero Adults and select the number of children traveling
5. Fill in the arrival and departure city and click on “Search Flights”

While booking for an unaccompanied minor it is mandatory to consider the following points:

1. The unaccompanied minor is compulsory if the child is 5 years of age up to 14 years.
2. If the child is above 15 years of age then they are eligible to travel alone and book their flights in the adult category although they are not restricted from obtaining an unaccompanied minor service.
3. For safety and security reasons of the unaccompanied minor the airlines limit the number (total number to three) of minor flying on each JetBlue Flights.
4. The guardian needs to fill up the unaccompanied minor form at the airport or by visiting the airlines official site. Then they need to print at least three copies of this form and present at the check in point.

Drop Off and Pick Up Requirements of The Unaccompanied Minor

1. A photo ID is required at the check-in and check out time from the airport.
2. The guardian picking up the minor should have attained at least 18 years of age, along with a valid photo ID and their name must be listed in the drop off and pick up location
3. Gate passes will be issued according to the TSA rules and regulations only.

Drop Off Requirements of The Unaccompanied Minor

1. The guardian or parent of the unaccompanied minor should have three copies of the UNMR form
2. The guardian or parent of the unaccompanied minor should have full details-name, phone number, address, documents of the UNMR form.
3. The guardian or parent of the unaccompanied minor should remain at the airport until the child has boarded on the flight.
4. They need to provide with an alternate guardian name if the original guardian cannot be reached in case of emergencies
5. The parent/ guardian can fill up the UMNR form at the airport itself

Pick Up Requirements of the Unaccompanied Minor

1. The guardian or parent of the unaccompanied minor picking up at the airport should call the reservation helpdesk before arrival of the minor.
2. The guardian /parent of the unaccompanied minor must arrive at least 30 minutes before the arrival time of the flight
3. The guardian or parent of the unaccompanied minor must have mentioned their correct details at the UMNR reservation

For Connecting Flights

The travel guidelines for connecting flights will be allowed only if the unaccompanied minor have attained 14 years of age and above. While the unaccompanied minor below 14 years can travel on non stop flights only with a waiting time less than 2 hours.  Also the unaccompanied minor will not be allowed to travel on direct flights that requires them to stop over in between or layover. JetBlue Airlines also do not allow the unaccompanied minor to travel on the last flight departing from the airport and travel between 9pm to 5am.
